BaySail is a member of the American Sailing Association (ASA) which is considered one of the best Sailing curriculums in the world. Our Instructors follow the course work “by the book” to ensure our students receive necessary instruction and education to build confidence and competence along the way to their certifications. BaySail uses sailboats that are chosen to give you the best possible sailing experience. In Basic Sailing, BaySail uses Capri 22’s which are very responsive, stable and easy to sail. The Capri features a large cockpit with plenty of legroom and a cabin below decks to stow gear. If possible, it’s always best to learn the basics of sailing on a boat like the Capri 22 because it is less intimidating and gives students a much better feel for the wind than a large charter boat. For advanced courses, BaySail uses beautiful yachts from 30’ to 41’ that are fully equipped, well maintained and inspected regularly.

Each course starts at 9 am and ends around 4pm, with a break for lunch! Pack a lunch and enjoy the waterfront view from one of the many picnic tables at the marina, or enjoy some of the great local eats, as we are located in the heart of Historic Havre De Grace. Eighty percent of our class time is on-the-water training. We have designed our courses to make sure that you have the necessary amount of time to become truly proficient in each level of sailing.

Advanced classes, such as ASA104 and the ASA 103/104 combo meet at BaySail and proceed to provisioning the boat for the class. The class will be on the water and begin navigating and cruising to some of the most beautiful anchorages on the bay.
